What's the future of "Mario Kart" on Nintendo Switch?

Updated on 02-07-2021:

SamusHunter is not the main source of this story. That's why we leave the blog on published. After evidence that SamusHunter delete tweets that turned out to be untrue, we're assuming his addition to the story is just speculation.

For years people have been asking for new Mario Kart. There are more and more rumors about the next Mario Kart and today we want to dedicate our vision to it. You can read what we expect based on what we have heard in this blog. It remains a rumor. So until Nintendo confirms it, you'll have to take it with a grain of salt. We've heard this information from several insiders, so we trust that this rumor contains some truth.

 .

In 2019 we had heard from sources that Mario Kart 9 was not coming to the Nintendo Switch, but that Nintendo was working on other types of projects for the Mario Kart series. We decided to hint about this in a tweet that no one noticed (Note 9). So that nobody would be disappointed if someone were to tease/hint a Mario Kart project and turns out it won't be Mario Kart 9 afterward. Our hint then was about Mario Kart Live Home Circuit and not about other Mario Kart projects.

The person who provided information did not know about other Mario Kart series projects at the time. Later it also appears that the next big project had started that year.

In May 2021, an insider hinted that "For this reason, a new direct sequel is hardly in production." Later that month, another insider announced that it had heard several times that Yabuki's team is hard at work on a new Mario Kart of some sort! It made it clear that it wasn't about Mario Kart Tour, Live Circuit, or the Universal theme park ride. He, too, was not sure whether it would be a direct sequel.

In May 2021, the person who told us about Mario Kart Live Home Circuit sent us another message and said he also heard that Yabuki's team is hard at work on a new Mario Kart of some sort, and has been for the last 3 years, but did not know that for very long. This source wants to remain anonymous, so we will not tell you what its name is.

We asked for a response from the insiders on this blog so far we only got a response from Samus Hunter. Read the conversation about this topic here:
